起源
18世紀から確認される表現で、処刑や屠殺で足場（bucket＝梁・横木など）を蹴って外すイメージに由来するとされる。
注釈
くだけた・黒いユーモアのある言い方で「死ぬ」を婉曲に言う。本人や親しい間柄では冗談に、弔事や目上には不適切になりやすい。
