起源
英語のhouse（店・興行側、特にバーやレストラン等）を「店側」とみなす用法から。代金を客ではなく店が負担する＝無料サービス、という比喩。
注釈
主に飲食店・バーなどで、店が好意やお詫びで無料提供する時に使う。カジュアル。通常は自分で「〜は店のおごり」と宣言するのは不自然。
