石灰光（ライムライト）の中で
起源
19世紀の舞台照明「ライムライト（石灰＝quicklimeを加熱して発光）」が語源。舞台で光を浴びる＝注目を浴びる、という比喩で定着した。
注釈
名声・話題性で「注目を浴びる」こと。文脈により好意的にも否定的（過度な注目・騒ぎ）にも使う。やや書き言葉寄りだが会話でも普通。
