やる気や本気がないまま、形だけ（手順だけ）こなすこと。
直訳
動作（手順）を通り抜ける
起源
本来は「必要な動作（手順）だけは行う」という字義から、気持ちが伴わない形式的な実行を比喩的に表すようになった。
注釈
「義務だからやるが熱意がない」という否定的ニュアンス。仕事・会議・恋愛など幅広く使える。相手の姿勢を批判する文脈でよく出る。
