直訳
規則を曲げる
起源
「曲げる＝硬いものをしならせる」という比喩で、厳格な規則を少し柔軟に扱うことを表す。対になる表現に「break the rules（規則を破る）」がある。
注釈
「破る」ほど重大ではないが、グレーで不公平・不正の含みもある。丁寧に頼む時や、柔軟運用を述べる時に使う。
