休憩や中断のあと、仕事・作業に戻ってまた頑張ること。
直訳
砥石（といし）に戻る
起源
道具を砥石で研ぐ職人の比喩から。「砥石に手を戻す＝また黙々と働く」というイメージで、休み明けに仕事へ戻る意味で定着した。
注釈
口語でよく使い、少し「うんざり・やれやれ」の気分を含むことが多い。仕事以外でも勉強や家事など「ルーティン」に戻る時に使える。
